| - I was excited to try this place out but unfortunately my hair didn't turn out great.
I have wavy, multiracial hair and I have a lot of it. I specifically asked when I called if they know how to do ethnic hair. The receptionist assured me that all the stylists are trained to handle all types of hair. After hearing that, right off the bat, I was a little concerned because there's no way every stylist can be an expert and trained appropriately to deal with every hair type; some may have more experience dealing with certain kinds of hair than others. Alas, I wanted to give them a solid shot so I booked my appointment.
The wash and scalp massage were wonderful. Unfortunately, as soon as the woman I was assigned to started blow drying my hair, it became apparent she didn't know what she was doing. Sweet woman, but she just seemed way out of her league. She didn't pull my hair tight enough around the brush to get it completely straight and dry before moving on to the next section. So, by the end, it didn't lay as flat on my scalp as it should. Even though I think they typically charge extra for flat ironing, I think she realized she messed up and didn't know what she was doing. Without asking, she tried to flat iron it to help it look better and didn't end up charging me for that service. By the end, as she was flat ironing my hair, I was literally coaching her on how to take smaller sections to get it straighter. My hair didn't turn out horrible; it was just more poofy and less straight and shiny than I'm used to when I get it done professionally.
It seems like they assign customers to stylists as they walk in rather than based on specific skill sets, and I think they might want to rethink this business model.
