So confused. How did this place get such high reviews? Went here for my husbands birthday and was severely disappointed. I dont know if they didnt try as hard because we were doing the living social deal or if it was an off day, but I will not be returning to find out. I have yet to find good italian food since we moved to arizona and the search continues.
Our server was a nice guy but he was just lacking in service. Ordered overpriced cocktails that sounded complex and just ended up tasting like screwdrivers with melted ice and when we pointed out that they were missing straws, he handed us coffee stirrers that barely made it above the cups..when we needed more bread he'd empty it out off a plate back into our same bread basket instead of bringing a fresh basket. The bread was not evenly warmed either. The ends and outside of the bread would be hot and crisped but cold in the middle.
My husband got the mussel appetizer and it was very small for the price and lacking in flavor, usually theres that rich broth at the bottom but this was just watery. For his entree he got the papperdelle, noodles were very well done but they were ruined by the sauce that tasted of canned tomato sauce and needed more seasoning. Weve made better at home.
My entree was a vegan dish the server recommended that consisted of seasonal vegetables and zuccini noodles. Tasted like really bad stir fry. Needed some marinara sauce or something, and as far as seasonal vegetables, the brocolli and other vegetable choices did not seem very fresh or in season.
Even with the living social discount I felt like we paid too much for the quality of food we received. This may be good enough for some people, but when i go out to eat, its to have better food than i can make at home, and this place has some serious work to do.
