  • Last August, I signed my son up for the youth boxing/ kickboxing/ fit classes...I cannot express what a positive effect they had on him...never one to be excited to go anywhere or do anything that had to do with exercise, he actually looks forward to going to Olu's classes and often exclaims "I love my gym!!". He had been going 3 times a week during which I wasted the hour walking around Target (spending money) then feeling guilty when I picked him up at the same time the adult class was letting out. I had kind of fallen the fitness wagon in the past couple of years, and I had plenty of excuses why (none of which were legitimate) but I knew I had to get something going as I was gaining weight rapidly. So, in January (late January so as to not be a new year's cliche!), I decided to join UFC as well. I started out slow, about two classes a week of the Daily Ultimate Training (alternated between Ava and Carlos)...the classes were challenging, but in a good way! I was definitely feeling better but I still had a lot of work to do so in March, I decided to jo in n the 6 week challenge. Best decision ever! Not only did I bump up my class load to 4 days a week (plus bumping up my running which had always been my go to but I had been seriously slacking), but I finally got my nutrition on track. The diet they provided, though at first glance might seem restrictive, was actually easy to follow with proper preparation, and it kept me satisfied! Finally, after 4 years of a steady climb up the scale, I started to see the pounds come off. The nonscale victories have been the biggest boost...my clothes fit better, I feel better, l look better (skin and the whatnot), lost rolls of stubborn fat and managed to take 45 seconds off of my average 5k pace. I am truly thankful for the staff at ufc...they are there to challenge me to be a better person but in an incredibly supportive way!
