| - I almost want to rate this place a 5 stars, but I was only here once, so take it with a grain of salt.
Walking around on Saturday night at 9p on Carson, the atmosphere on the street was college-aged and boisterious, like West 6th in Cleveland. I saw 2 bachelorette parties on Carson. I was looking for something less of a dive bar or dance club and more of a lounge. The library filled that niche for me.
It was a great place. There were about a dozen beers on draft, nearly all micro brews [including Victory, Lake Erie Monster from Great Lakes]. The best part: all draft beers [except ones above 12% ABV] were $3 from 5-7 PM and 9-11 PM. EVERYDAY. I was shocked. I eagerly had a Victory wit and an Irish stout for $6.
The service from Stephanie the bartender and the barback was great. Even on a Saturday night, with all but 1 bar seat filled, Our drink orders were served promptly and they were friendly. 90s music like better than ezra, gin blossoms, and the rest of the vh1 crew filled the air. There was noise, but still quiet enough to have a normal conversation with the person next to you at the bar.
I had the Scallops appetizer ( 1/2 off all appetizers every day from 5-7 P and 9p to 1A - wow). For $5, a damn steal. 6 Scallops, cooked perfectly for me [soft, moist] on small pieces of bread. Plus, the cups of pesto and a tomato sauce on the side. The pesto was a bit salty for me, but the tomato sauce was amazing.
Based on my only visit, I would probably be a regular if I lived in Pittsburgh.
