One of my favorite things to do when home in the fall and springtime in Phoenix is to head to the Phoenix Public Market on many Saturday mornings. I have watched this market slowly evolve over the past couple of years and it's become quite the mecca for the senses. A bit of nirvana , is what I find here!
Everything from cold brewed coffee , ( or hot!) , to tamales , to fresh fruits and veggies or plants. How about local honeys ? Or locally made spices and rubs? A sugar scrub for your skin or even treats for your fur children.
There are cheeses , breads , live music , food trucks and sometimes dancing in the street! Jewelry and hand woven bags and pottery too!
Two evenings in December the Phoenix Public Market hosts Phoestivus. The market and it's vendors come alive after sundown for a treat all its own. Airing of the grievances, anyone ? You can here.. whilst sipping a hot spiked local cider or local brewery ipa on these two nights. The food trucks are always a treat too. But if that's not your thing , and if the food is to go home with you from the market .. there is the actual brick and mortar Phoenix Public Market Cafe. It's great for grab and go coffee or soup ... they always have some yummy ones.
Just a few of my favorite vendors in the Phoenix Public Market are :
The Proper Beast
Fiscalina Cheese
One Windmill Farm
Maya's Farm
The Tamale Store
Noble Breads
But that's just a few of the ones I constantly stock my refrigerator up on. The market is all things local and you can't go wrong here! It's dog and family friendly and you never know the fun you may find.
Parking can be tight at times so I often use the pay lot. Bring your own use again bags from home and cash as some of the vendors ( although I've found most take Apple Pay or credit ), may not take credit. Sample away and enjoy the local color and wares !
