Back home on the East coast it is a common weekend practice to head on down to the flea market and try to score some treasures. Here in Vegas the equivalent is the swap meet! This particular one is located on Las Vegas Blvd and Pecos.
Visited on Sunday September 4, 2016 around 9AM. We found a spot in the massive parking lot and headed to the gate. We paid our admission fee of $2 each for adults and our 2-year-old was free. I'm pretty sure we were the only non-hispanic people there.
The venue is all outdoors and over a thousand vendors have individual tents set up across the 22 acre lot. There is one centralized outdoor building where the live music takes place and I noticed they have turned it into a food court! I think this is a genius move by the management because this space was previously filled with junk vendors and now it's probably a money-maker.
Much of the stalls are peddling used tools, used appliances, stretchy booty-pants, live birds, chinese bras, used tires, chinese shoes, used speakers, and dry goods like peanuts and beans. There are some treasures here to be found if you look hard enough. It's fun to grab a michelada and just walk around & peruse the stalls or go to the main stage and watch the live music and sometimes even dancers.
I was in search of the mexican street corn but never found it. Perhaps I came too early but I swear I could smell it cooking!!! I never did find it but I'll try again next time.
