  • My review is based on undergrad courses. Please do not waste your money! I needed to obtain at least an associates degree in order to advance my appraisal credentials. I started in the University of Phoenix online undergrad program, which I believe was titled "Apex" at the time (~ 2010). When you complete your application and begin speaking with a "counselor," you are really speaking with a current student who is trying desperately to pay off some of their overpriced education as a salesperson. I completed about a third to half of my AA requirements through Phoenix and then switched to my local state community college. At that time, state schools were just getting caught up with online curriculum. I finished all of my classes through my local CC online with the exception of three, which I took in a live classroom setting. Two of those I could have completed using comparable online classes; however, I chose otherwise. The education I received via the local CC was actually far superior to what I received from Phoenix. Phoenix seemed designed to occupy time and facilitate innate online discussions with some truly ignorant people who are able to qualify for grants, student aid and loans, while never really teaching much. In all honesty, I was willing to accept that, until I realized that they are charging many times more for the same, or more often, inferior education which is available via traditional colleges. Please look into traditional options which now have online courses before signing away a boat load of money to this "school." The really sad thing is that this "school" preys on our military, and hungers for a taste of their GI Bill dough. I now have about $10k in student loans for less than half of an associates degree. BTW, an associates degree is typically worth little more than a HS diploma or a GED, so be careful if you are not sure about what you are trying to accomplish.
