  • I guess I should have read the reviews here before booking our stay through Hotels.com. THey say frustration is a function of your expectations.... WEll I guess I had higher expectations for a property touted as a 4 star hotel. I even called ahead to make sure our reservation was set since we booked through a 3rd party. When we got there around 5 pm.they were tearing up the entrance so that was a bit of a challenge to manuever with my suburban, but the bellman was helpful enough to get our stuff out and we decided to just Valet it.AS he was leaving to valet park, HE said "oh it is $15.00 per day" I have nere been charged to Valet park before, but I just said OK., since I didn't want to try and hassle with their construction there and leave my little girls standing there with all of our stuff while I went to park. After checking in and supposedly having our room ready, Imagine my surprise when we get to our room, and it is not what we booked. It clearly stated there was 4 of us, and we booked a room with king bed and a sofa bed to accommodate us all. We got a room with only a king bed. I guess they thought the other 2 guests would sleep in the chairs?? I called the front desk and they put me on hold to see if they could "find something else for us" They finally did and we moved to the other room. These rooms are certainly not up to what I expected form something listed as a 4 star resort. For being a non smoking room, it wreaked of stale smoke smell. The room was ok nothing really special. Much like the Holiday inn we stayed at a month or so ago. The breakfast buffet is outrageously expensive and not very good.( $98.00 for 5 of us ) They really get you as far as food goes, as there is not much available, and it is quite expensive. They know there is not many other options for you unless you want to drive the 25 minutes back into the hub there in Henderson, which we did. THe vending machine in our halll was completely out of any drinks at all. WE did finally find some on another floor. The key cards rarely work. Leaving us stranded and not able to get in our room multiple times, even after switching them out. Leaving us unable to get into the pools etc. The lifeguards for the most part were terrible , some of the most grumpy and unfriendly people I have ever met. The ones up by the slide would not even look at you as they sat in their chair and just said "go" or next" . There was some good customer service, the valets, bell boys etc. but many others were terrible. Overall this was very disappointing. The paddle boarding and kayaking was fun.
