I fly back and forth to the West Coast regularly. It's only an hour flight - maybe an hour fifteen when the wind is going the other way. I'm not a particular flyer - I am thankful that humans can use air planes to expedite our travel so I try not to complain. Is my flight delayed? Still faster than walking. Has my ticket been booked to another flight? Still faster than horse and buggy.
So I try not to complain about the luxuries of modern travel. But I still do have the luxury of choosing who I pay to travel with. It makes me happy to fly with WestJet. At least they try - they try to make jokes, they try to make you happy, they smile, they ask you questions about yourself. I appreciate that - if I'm going to die on a plane, I don't want to die feeling like I'm alone.
But what I like best is they don't look at you like you should be thankful they graced you with the opportunity to ride their precious flying machine. What is the problem, other airline's flight attendants? Yes - people are cranky on planes. But guess what - people are cranky everywhere. Shocker. You don't like dealing with cranky people? Well - I'm sure there's an accounting analyst job somewhere out there where you don't have to talk to anyone if you don't want too!
I'm happy to fork over my cash to people who actually smile at me.
