  • I recently purchased new appliances for my kitchen (fridge, dishwasher, stove, microwave). I made the purchase on impulse just before a major holiday because I had family coming. I first visited Home Depot and Best Buy. I explained that I was thinking of making the purchase but had some questions and was concerned about the delivery. I had a specific schedule I could accommodate and was even willing to pay extra if that was what it took. They were both uninterested in anything I had to say, offered no solution for my limited delivery ability, and one person at Home Depot (the appliance manager) actually said in response to a question I asked about a new color "I don't know how to explain it to you, you can go to Best Buy across the street if you don't understand". (All I asked is whether it was a smooth shiny surface or a matte finish seems to me like a very reasonable question anybody would want to know). As I was driving home I passed Spencer's and thought it wouldn't hurt to stop and inquire. Bill was an angel. I should probably mention, at this point, that I am NOT an easy person to please - I've drafted my fair share of negative reviews. Bill indicated that delivery was booked solid for the morning I needed delivery. I indicated that I'd expected as much and went to leave. He said "hold on a minute, let me make a call". Before I knew it he had an installer that agreed to deliver all four appliances first thing in the morning the day I requested. I live in a 50 year old house so you probably know that the wiring and faucets are not quite what the big box companies are used to dealing with. I'm certain, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that even if Home Depot had managed to accommodate my delivery date/time window they would NOT have installed the appliances due to their corporate policies on these matters. The installer (Jeremy) went the extra mile in getting things done for me. I cannot thank him or Bill enough. I literally changed my mind on what I was going to buy 3 times before delivery and Bill was patient with each change request, never causing me to feel like I was a nuisance. Oh - and, I should mention, the prices were equal to or less than the Big Box stores. Bill followed up with a call later that day to ensure everything went well. I give Spencer's 5 big gold stars.
