"Art you can get into."
I'm a mattress factory vampire, I've been bitten and I shall bite you. Projects look fundamentally the way no other art looks, mysteriously fun. Not your typical diluted or driven for the market works, no MF's primary aim is to get into your subconscious.
This is a place I can go to and get totally blown away without the side effect of drugs.
The ultra hip exclusive HIGH ART at MF is the plot and the subplot all tangled up as a shot in the arm loaded with 'extraordinary.' Not just any chain store museum but boasts eclectic tricks and treats that will totally inspire your creative side.
MF art can be downright dark tense engrossing and packs a powerful punch. What was evoked in me borders on supernatural, conjuring up some complex homespun insight. I've yet to recover from one of the permanent installations they have which threw me into an art junky funk and I just know I'll never be the same.
The art will thoroughly engage you with visuals whose convoluted aspects reach deep into psychological areas where you may even be harboring secrets. Explore color and shape on a large scale; a kick-ass way to spend the afternoon.
Are we there yet? No? Okay......so
.....Stop by the Museum Shop and see SAM. She is a modern work of art herself, trust me. Yeah, she's a hipster that any wanna be hipster would admire. Where they found her I don't know. Engaging and very knowledgeable about the works at MF and the most pleasant helpful employee I have met in a very long time. Make extra time for her to show you the cool must have wares of the MF shop.
MF literally was a mattress factory at one time. Say goodbye to the boring familiar and indulge yourself. I promise it will get under your skin like a good tattoo.
Opened in 1977, located in Mexican War Streets (N side) Pittsburgh. Who woulda thunk? Pittsburgh!
