  • This is a review of the pro shop located? inside the Arsenal. As an out of state college hockey player when I heard they were putting in a pro shop I was ecstatic. It is much closer to my house than LVIC and it was a beautiful facility. I have gone to see the knights practice from time to time and I have gone into the arsenal from time to time. I had gone in earlier this month and tried on some new skates and to see what all this place had to offer. I was very impressed. They quoted me $20, two separate? times mind you, $10 for a first sharpen and $10 to bake my skates. I had high expectations as it is an? NHL facility. Today, I had my first experience with the pro shop and I will not be back. My brand new skates had just arrived in the mail and went to get them baked and sharpened. The first thing I noticed was how disheveled? the hockey gloves were. I understand that they had been busy but it has been that way every time I've gone in. Upon arrival, I waited at the pro shop counter for a few minutes until Greg walked up. I told him I wanted to get my skates baked and sharpened. He informed me it was $40. I then realized he was one of the two people that told me it was $20. He said they decided to raise the prices today. He said, "I decided we need to charge? more." He was unwilling to negotiate and as soon as I told him he was one of the people that told me that. He started to get mad and frustrated. At that point, I just wanted it done. So I had him bake my skates?. He did not offer to lace them for me, which is a standard in the hockey shop world. As I was sitting there with my skates on my feet, I noticed more and more people bringing skates in. There were now 7-10 pairs of skates waiting to be sharpened. Greg was the only person on staff who could sharpen skates. He was more focused on selling skates than sharpening. I knew I'd be lucky to get my skates back by the time they closed, 5+ hours later. After I baked my skates, I paid for it and went and got them sharpened at Las Vegas Ice Center (LVIC). Greg also worked at LVIC (Then fired) and I'm sure he was fired from there for his attitude, his lack of time management, and his lack of customer service skills. I was very excited to utilize? The Arsenal but unfortunately?, I will not be back. I'll stick with? the guys at LVIC and so will my team. We are out of state but a lot of us come down to Vegas from time to time and myself as a local. I can't believe the way he treated customers and his lack of communication skills is laughable. There was a man named Hal that worked at The Arsenal and he was easily the most knowledgeable person on hockey equipment I have ever met. I was told he was fired and that was a huge mistake. I urge you to stick with LVIC because if The Arsenal gets busy, it is? going to take 2-3 hours at the least to get your skates done.
