On our recent trip to Pittsburgh we went here on our last day. We chose those incline over the Monongahela incline due to a friend's recommendation. Before reading this I want to preface with, this is a regular form of transportation. People use this incline for their daily commute. Although it is a tourist spot, it is not just for tourists. The cost is $2.50 per adult per ride (one way). So my family of four and I had to pay $20 to ride up and then down. Now if you are using this as tourist destination, then make the most of your $20 by taking lots of pictures along the ride and at the overlook at the top station. Also check out all the memorabilia at the top station. The guy running the incline at the top also let us through to a museum (which you normally have to pay 25 or 50 cents for) and we got to see all the inner workings, which is super cool! I also made a point to stock up on souvenirs since that was the only place that had sold them that we discovered on our trip. They're really decent prices too. All of the staff working here was super friendly too! I left my gloves on the incline and the lady at the bottom stop was more than happy to help me get them! They take exact cash only and there is no ATM, but if you have exact cash, take the trip ! It's worth it!
