| - I had been on the verge of leaving this gym for awhile (disgusting, unsanitary bathrooms with overflowing toilets that are right next to the sinks and a stench worse than a rotting corpse, alot of loud, trashy low class people, and some VERY bitter, obnoxious front desk workers). Tonight nailed the coffin shut (not to mention I just read some of the other reviews about car break-ins....Jesus).
I'm a quiet guy who comes to the gym, minds his own business, works out and leaves. I've worked out at close to twenty gyms in my life and never had any issues. EVER. For no reason whatsoever some of the front desk workers here decided to mess with me. Only a straight-up loser messes with somebody for no reason and I don't really care what the issue is/ was but one thing I'll never tolerate is disrespect. I happen to support alot of animal charities. I wonder what these people are doing for the world these days besides causing trouble. If anyone doubts my story, check out Jennifer V's review further down the page (12th review from top). Poor girl's locker was broken into, her cash stolen, and she was LAUGHED AT by the staff.
To avoid drama I wrote a few anonymous letters to management. Nothing changed so this past week I sat down with one of the female managers and told her what had been happening (for months, by the way). She's the Monday thru Thursday manager and I told her this whole problem started with a Latin girl who used to work during the week and now works on Friday and Saturday late afternoons (this girl said derogatory things about me in Spanish thinking I wouldn't understand, but I did). I CLEARLY mentioned I was having issues with some of this manager's people too. She said, "Well since it started with the girl I'll talk to her manager." I could tell she wasn't taking me seriously so today I decided to confront the male I was having the biggest problem with, some kid named Brandon. I spoke in a calm, civil tone and told him "I spoke to your manager and whatever problem you people have with me, squash it. I did nothing to you people." He flew off the handle and started raising his voice ("WHAT PROBLEM?? WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT??"). A few of the managers heard the ruckus and asked me to step into the office. I politely followed them in and we were joined by the manager I had previously spoken to. I repeated the exact same story I had told a few days prior. After we spoke I walked into the gym to start my work out and this Brandon kid accused me of staring him down (a laughable, ridiculous lie) and caused ANOTHER scene. Management took his side so I left the gym and did what I should've done months ago. I went to the new LVAC Decatur location.
What a difference. New, CLEAN, and better in every way than LVAC Northwest. I walked in and the gal behind the desk gave me a cheerful smile and asked "How we doin' today?" I had a great workout with a great crowd of people and when I went to leave the gentleman who handed me my card smiled and said "Have a great night." Now THAT'S the kind of treatment I expect.
I turned a lousy situation into a positive one and my attorney feels I handled this situation well. Adios LVAC Northwest. Me and my three year membership will be at Decatur now.
