A friend of mine made reservations for us to come for Afternoon Tea ($28/per person) last week and we were very impressed with the cute decorations and variety of tea! Situated inside of a plaza, My Cup of Tea Dessert is a wonderful place to go for some tea and catch up with friends. I recommend making reservations as many people reserve tables for their afternoon tea and the place is also very small.
The overall service was okay. We were given a tray to choose our tea which were inside small jars. The writing on the jars was hard to read because it was written in chalk. We finally decided between 2 -- A red tea (Sunrise Something) and Organic Kyoto Cherry Rose (green tea). Both were very good!
Let's get to the food! The display for the small afternoon bites was very cute! Each table had a different bird cage housing their scones, sandwiches and desserts. We were quite impressed with the serving & tableware. I like how fluffy and light the scones were. We had 2 different flavours -- earl gray and a regular scone. I preferred the earl gray especially with the jams since it was a little more special. Next, the sandwiches were delicious but nothing overly special. One was a grilled cheese, then there was a cheese and mushroom type mini sandwich bowl and then a tuna. I quite enjoyed the sandwich bowl and the tuna. The grilled cheese for me was delicious but normal. Finally, for the dessert, I was quite impressed with the jasmine jelly and the other tea mousse in the chocolate cup. Both is these were surprisingly well created and I found myself scraping every last bite. However, the biggest let down for the entire meal was the matcha mousse which was very sour and off balanced. No one at our table took more than 3 bites which is disappointing since it was well decorated. The flavour for the matcha mousse was not the best part of our meal and kind of brought the food journey to a disappointing end.
Overall, the tea, scones and sandwiches were delicious and I would definitely go back for the jasmine jelly!!
