Halal Guys is a chain known to have its start and roots as a food cart NYC in the 90s. Not knowing much else about them, I was excited to try the food here. I was surprised to find that the food is really simplified, and menu very basic - food definitely a bit blander than usual real deal halal, and I guess kind of "Americanized"?
The service was good as they were friendly enough to explain how their hot sauce works - you can ask for how many "lines" you want, as it is super spicy. They are known for the white sauce, which I found to be okay but wasn't as garlicky and developed as most other white garlic sauces I've had at other places.
All in all, if you are new to this kind of food or are looking for a quick meal late at night (they are open super late I think!), it's a decent choice, but nowadays with the ever expanding food scene, there's a good number of more authentic halal places offering those incredible flavors the cuisine is known for.
