  • at first we thought it was a game of hide and seek, as we went round and round the loop de loop following those arrows that pointed in the direction towards the children's museum and it only took our fourth trip around the loop de loop until i noticed the big fish swimming above the parking lot on the left hand side of the road, where we took a hard turn into the parking lot that was full and the man directed us to an overflow lot, so we decided to park on the street instead. once we were feet bound, we trotted over to the museum that was grey on the outside and all rainbows on the inside. there was the windy room, where things floated up in the air or whirled around in tubes while little hands tried to catch them. there was the wet room filled with all sorts of water games and signs that stated (simply and accurately) that if you play in that area - you will get wet. there was also a wall of hand dryers occupied by big people drying wet little clothes. i don't know if the big people could read the sign. there was also the room of that old guy who had that neighborhood all those years ago and as hard as Mr. Roger's tried, he did not turn the world into a sweater wearing, shoe to slipper world. there was an attic full of puppets, slides, and slanted rooms that made little people dizzy and big people nearly break their ankles. there was a cafe the sold benign and not horribly tasting food. there was a ladder that wasn't really a ladder, but rather a contraption that turned little people into a giant ant colony. there was a room full of little train sets and play pieces, so that even the littlest of the littlest could find something to play with too. there was a room full of gadgets galore and a giant contraption that carried a ball up to the ceiling and then all around the room over everybody, then plopped the ball into a wire funnel that landed right where it began. there was a theater underneath the cafe that had costumes to try on and a stage to dance around. there were screens that rained letters and captured shadows and copied people in technicolor and bounced colored waves as people passed by if you do not like this museum... then you are not a child. (and that is a shame)
