| - Literally the worst experience I've ever had at a Walmart, I have bought cell phones from here before and it was a 5 minute in and out deal. Well, not this time. They were buffing the floors and cleaning things. I mentioned that I needed a phone, and a woman volunteered to help get me the phone that I needed. I specifically stated that I needed a mobile phone for Cricket in the $40 range. She started pulling out random phones from StraightTalk, Walmart Family Mobile, T-Mobile, and others. I was like look, I just need a $40 cricket phone that is Android 4.0 or higher, that's it. She hands me a phone and tells me it's $40 and will work with Cricket.
Ok, so I go to check out with my credit card, and as I'm walking away I look at my receipt and realize she handed em a $90 PHONE for Verizon or some other carrier instead of Cricket. I was like wtf?! Not 30 seconds later I was already back at the register and mentioned to a different clerk that the phone I was handed by the lady helping with the phones was incorrect, and was $50 more than what I told her I wanted from the rack. The lady who did this comes back over and says "Ohh, we'll have to go to customer service to correct this."
I watch her put the phone back in the case, but she keeps mumbling and tweaking all over the place frantically to the point that I wasn't sure if she was going to pull out the correct phone or she was leading me to customer service with the old one.
So I follow her up to the customer service desk, but the phone that is in her hand that she pulled out while messing around in the phone section was NOT the same one as the phone I just purchased on my receipt.
At this point, she says "I don't know where the other phone is at." and asks me: "Do you know where it's at?" I said: "No, I don't have it. You put it back in the case with the rest of the phones. I just need the $40 cricket phone that I came in here for, and to have this adjusted and placed back onto my card correctly."
So then she says something about not taking the phone and that she needs to check the cameras for the phone, almost as if she was trying to imply that I might have taken or tried to take a $40 cricket phone. I looked at her like she was nuts and said look ma'am, I SAW you put that phone back in the locked phone area. I don't know which side of the locked phone area you put it in, but i DID see you put it back in there. She then says: "Well, we're going to have to check the cameras just to make sure you don't have the phone". Are you f--king kidding me? I have $200 in my wallet and an American Express card, and you think I want to take your petty phone I SAW YOU PLACE BACK INTO THE CASE? Wow. Just wow.
So I am standing on the side area at customer service, waiting for nearly an hour, because a manager was in a meeting and needed to leave that meeting or something to check the cameras. So she checks the cameras, and guess what? The camera showed the crazy lady putting the phone back in the case just like I told her she did (even though she denied having done so to both me and to the manager that tried to help the situation).
That was the first half hour. The second half hour, I was waiting for the crazy lady to actually FIND the phone she said she didn't put back and falsely implied I had. She finally finds it and attempts to do an exchange and refund, meanwhile cursing out her co-workers and employees, calling them names and then saying she didn't care what they thought or what happens because she's transferring anyway.
So i get the replacement phone and updated receipt, and just wanted to get out of there by that point. I wasted an hour of time that cost me money and made me late for something very important that I needed the phone for to begin with. I look at the receipt as I'm leaving the store and guess what I see? She put in the bag a $60 phone for T-Mobile instead of the $40 cricket phone I pointed at and said 4 times CRICKET.
I was so disgusted that I haven't been back to Walmart yet to deal with this crap since this happened a week ago. I checked my credit card online and despite being told the credit for the price difference was given, the credit card company said it did not go through for some reason and they had to call the store to guide someone through with making sure that it did. What the fudge is going on with Walmart? I know that competence can't always be expected but when you can't even get a phone or the right price without an employee trying to play games and accuse you of something to cover up what they were trying to do TO you as the customer..big problem!
I did talk to someone who works at the 35th ave store and mentioned this to them, and they said that this sounded like she was trying to scam me and get away with it by making the phone disappear so she could have the manager make a decision on it. Something was totally not right about the whole situation, I'm going to return this crap and go buy a phone at Cricket store instead.
