So THESE are the guys responsible for FindYourCenter? I gotta say, I think their posters are horrible. "Oh look! I'm playing football and some laughing hottie is tackling me! Isn't Charlotte so fun?"
But the Uptown rejuvenation marks their success. Their advertising may be lame, and some of their events may not be my thing, but they are a force for good. And by "good" I mean "urban renewal." If you have suffered the gentrification you may not consider it a good thing, but I think the city as a whole has benefited. Politics aside, everyone can find something they like here.
Take "Blues, Brews, and BBQ" (now called "Time Warner Cable BBQ & Blues," because their new corporate sponsor is uncomfortable being associated with "brews"). There's something for everyone there. Bringing classic Carolina BBQ into this city of transplants lets us all share a distinctly Charlotte experience. That is something this city needs more of - shared experiences to turn our cookie-cutter town into a community. We are moving in the right direction.
