| - This is a review for the Patate Mallette food truck that was at Place-des-Arts for the Juste pour rire festival.
We were walking past the rows of food trucks on St-Catherine when we noticed the big sign above the Patate Mallette truck, saying "best poutine in Québec".
I thought: "Woah, it takes some guts to claim that." Of course, I had to try it.
It was obviously great publicity, because a big line up had formed. Thanksfully, the boys in the truck were on fire. What seemed like 5 minutes later, a picture-perfect poutine landed in my hands.
The poutine had: 1) proper cheese (squeak squeak), 2) homemade gravy, and 3) golden brown fries. It was like a model poutine - strangely, I felt it was missing something.
Don't get me wrong, I think it was in many ways flawless. It just didn't suit my personal taste. I grew up on a greasier, saltier and cheaper version of the thing. It's simply ingrained in me.
I do however strongly recommend to try Patate Mallette. If I ever make it to Beauharnois, I'll make sure to stop by (very curious about that "poutine bread").
P.S. Their business cards are really cute.
