| - You know, I probably spent an inordinate amount of time trying to come up with a joke about the name of this place that would reference a pleasure center in a bowl of soup... but so far I'm coming up with nothing. Oh well, I'll just write a review about how good this place is, and leave the jokes to the writers of 30 Rock.
Came here for lunch. Walked in... nice place... sat down and looked at the menu... looked fairly straightforward. Ordered tonkotsu broth with curly noodles... and I have to say that I was extremely impressed. The first thing that impressed me was the decanter of water that they served with a slice of cucumber in it. As weird to type as it is to read, that water was FANTASTIC! Just a little slice of cucumber- it was amazing and 'cooling'. So there was that. My watermelon green tea was also incredibly tasty... then my ramen came out and I was like "OMGWTFIDKBBQ"!!! This looked like the perfect bowl of ramen!!! So I hesitatingly took a few sips of the broth... and it was ON like DONKEY KONG, kids!!! The broth was perfect- just fatty enough without feeling yurchy, with a lot of good pork-bone flavor. The ingredients in the soup balanced the broth out perfectly. A nice mix of corn, chrysanthemum, julienned ginger slices, cha-shu, nori, and two types of egg.
TWO TYPES OF EGG, MUTHAFUCKA!!!
That's right. There was a 'normal' egg, and a quail egg!!!
I could go on and on about how good the ingredients were, but the noodles themselves were equally impressive. Perfectly cooked to where they had just a little bit of chew in them.
The entire meal was spot-on, and for the price... it was amazing. I can't wait to come back and try their shabu-shabu. Looking at the menu, it looks like they have a lot of good options to try. But even for a quick ramen lunch, this place is the cat's meow. The dog's woof. The hippo's... .... uh.... 'hippo sound'.
Whatever. Shut up and have some soup.
