L'astral sits at the doorstep of place des féstivals, but don't let the line up scare you off. Twice now I've reluctantly waited in line, something I've admittedly not done in YEARS, and twice now the line moved along smoothly. I think the queue is a bit slow because the bouncers take their security check seriously here. So that's all that was.
Onto the show. We came to see the J-dilla tribute show as a part of Nuit Blanche. DJs opened the night for the live show that started around half past midnight. The show was fantastic, but I'll stick here to reviewing the venue.
The venue has two floors and the house was packed, really packed. I have no idea what the capacity is, but they are lacking in bars or bar staff. The upstairs bar line up moves significantly quicker than the downstairs one, so protip: get your drinks upstairs. As you would hope for a music venue, the acoustics were on point and the energy about the place was top notch. There was a coat check, which was nice, so you don't have to leave your stuff in the car.
I wouldn't hesitate to go back.
