| - well, where do i start... before i do that, i would like to say that i am a big foodie, trying out numerous michelin rated chefs and top rated chefs and restaurants. that is probably why we like going to vegas,, chicago, and nyc for great food.
we were staying at the bellagio to begin with and we already ate at Picasso once again. so, we thought we tried yellowtail, since the hotel tv talked highly of it.
when we dine at japanese restaurants, we like to do the full omakase dinner, sometimes it can be from a 7 course to even an 12 course type of thing depending on where you end up. well let me tell you why my husband and i are disappointed with yellowtail. first the portions are just too small... we were on out 4th course and they are teenie tiny. we dined at nobu countless times and at masa as well in nyc and vegas, and we have never seen portions that small for an omakase dinner. then by the time we are all done with all seven courses, my husband and i had to go to the noodles restaurant for another late night supper.
food wise, it was decent, nothing to scream about. the tuna pizza was different and very light tasting, but other than that, not that great. we had a little sampler of their rendition of kobe beef, but that so so as well. nobu does their kobe beef on a hot rock and the taste is much much better.
we dont mind paying for good food, but it has to be good, and at least the portion needed to justify it. for $150 per person, i expected a bit more in terms of portion. we gotten more at picasso, and sage in terms of portion, even thought we spend way more at morimoto or nobu or masa, the portion sizes were just way more and we didnt have to supplement our dinner with a second dinner.
also, the last thing is the atmosphere, it is pretty loud here, we have been to morimoto in nyc and its loud too, but there were a bunch of tipsy people just talking trash behind us.
wouldnt go back there ever. there's a lot of better places to eat for sushi in vegas.
