Menchie's isn't exactly a novel concept but it's convenient to me and it has potential to be a reasonable treat. There seems to be a fro yo for everyone and although the flavor is a wild card you can get a sugar free, a fat free, low fat or pick one based on calories (they have little symbols on the flavor cards). It's pretty easy to get out of control on portion and toppings but if you're very disciplined you can get a very reasonable treat that fits a variety of diet plans and is still good to those people who don't care at all. The flavors are also very well done. My last trip there was a hot chocolate, pure chocolate and nutella. All of them were BASICALLY chocolate and looked the same and yet they all tasted different, wonderful and distinct to the description.
I do have some moral marketing issues with a cute mascot cartoon fro yo swirl (aimed at children) challenging people to fill their bowls up to be as big as your head. That to me was so incredibly wrong and has since disappeared... hopefully with it's tail between it's legs.
