  • Keffers Sales team is top notch, their service staff however is absolutely atrocious. Rude to customers, lying and completely denying all reason to avoid actually fixing problems. Brought our car in two weeks ago for a mildew smell coming from the air conditioning and a violent vibration at idle. For the mildew smell the service department recommended a "a/c refresh"($140) as the assistant service manager called it. This consisted of them spraying a chemical into the air conditioning to "kill the mildew" which they then stated would take a week to work, that was two weeks ago. Regarding the vibration they stated that they tightened the motor mounts, but because the car was a four cylinder it would vibrate. I have never owned or ridden in a new or old 4cyl that vibrated like that at idle. After a week, I returned to Charlotte to pick up our vehicle from my mother, and the car smelled like the inside of a bowling ally shoe. Even through this overbearing stench you could still smell the mildew and the car still vibrated. For the $140 they charged this was unacceptable. Owning a business in another city I had to leave and asked my mother to return the car to the service department and have them call me and not to spray any additional chemicals in the car but to actually fix the problem i.e. trouble shoot the cause of the mildew. I never received a phone call so I contacted them. The first person I spoke with informed me that they were spraying ozone into the cabin of the car and cycling it through the a/c, to which I stated that we did not want anymore chemical in the car and that we have a three year old with lung issues that rides everyday in this vehicle which is why we wanted the mildew smell gone, to which he replied ozone is not a chemical, need not say anything further, ridiculous. The conversation began to get nasty when the management got on the line, stating first that he had been working on cars longer than I had been alive, which was first incorrect and second rude. The mildew was quote "caused by something we had spilled in the car", which was a year and half old stain in the very back corner of the vehicle AND because we had our dog in the car which could be seen by the hair in the back( our dog Rucka RIP had been dead for two years). Next I was told our vehicle vibrated because our tires were not balanced and that the car was out of alignment. If you recall the car vibrated at idle, so these two causes are clearly bogus not mention we have BRAND new tires and had an alignment done less than two months ago! At that point I instructed the manager to stop the work and get our car ready to go. Bottom line there are much more attentive, honest and trustworthy shops in the Charlotte area. Be warned, the Keffer online presence will try to discredit this post just like their erroneous 5 star rating on Google.
