| - I'm downgrading my overall rating due to variability in experience. This Saturday I went in for an appt with Renita. This is the first time I've ever not tipped on a beauty service. And I've had some helatious services over the year. Here's a tip - go M-F and ask for Crystal. Avoid the weekend brow bar associate. My complaints in no particular order - mind you this is not a surprise to Ulta. I explained this to the sales associate (and I indicated I was not happy to Renita personally as well) when asked what gratuity I'd like to leave as I checked out.
1. Not happy w/ the brows. There was significant lifting of my skin. I am left with a scab on my right brow. I am a brow waxing pro - I know this happens, but I didn't feel as if my complaints about it were taken seriously. Also the first stab at it, they were uneven. I had to have her go back and even them up. Not a happy customer. Ultimately the shape is OK, but I've had better.
2. Lack of customer service. Renita was nice enough while doing the wax, but I was greated with severe attitude when I arrived. They open at 10am and I was the first apt at 10:20 AM. I was greated with a surly "do you have an appt" while Renita was busy doing the makeup of another sales associate. She wasn't ready for me and there was a general lack of swiftness with which she moved to get ready. I had an appt, the first appt of the day is 20 minutes after they open. I assume to account for all of this prep work. Also she continued to assist other customers, well one pushy customer, while doing my brow wax. It was annoying and unprofessional. After the 10th interuption as she was finishing me up she finally told customer "i'll be with you in a minute." Why didn't she say that 20 minutes ago. Maybe my brows would have been even and I wouldn't be scabbed over now. I think the wax was too hot. Was something overlooked in the prep? I dunno.
3. I have a very delicate nose. I'm going to try and say this politely. But hygiene was lacking....and it wasn't a BO smell if you get my drift. It wasn't overpowering, but was there. Come on. I do not want to smell booty first thing in the AM. Ok maybe I wasn't delicate, but this is the truth. My guess is the associate herself was clean, she looked very well put together, but I think she may have needed to launder her pants or something. It was just offputting to say the least.
So recap - Renita I'm giving one star b/c ultimately when this scab heals my brows will be ok. They aren't permantly jacked up. Crystal five stars. Average of 3.
And just so I'm not accused of being a bitter Betty and using the anoymous internet to grind my ax. All of these items were told to the Ulta associate when I checked out. Also I indicated to Renita I was not happy - she didn't ask me to rebook. I think it was obvious this brow wax went south.
ETA - I did submit this review to Benefit via their website and they have followed up with me within 6 hours - so hopefully they get the variability in associates corrected. This overall lack of professionalism needs to be addressed. You pay a premium to go to Benefit Brow Bar - see my review below. But in this case I would have been better off going to the 8 dollar nail place. Now that the lifting patch has scabbed over I see clearly missed hairs also. Ugh..maybe zero stars, but I can't do that b/c ultimately when my skin heals the shape won't be terrible.
