  • I got to the area at 5:30PM on Thursday, the opening day. I had to drive around for about 30 minutes before I finally found a parking spot. Their web page mentions plenty of shuttle buses for parking & I saw them (nice, modern shuttle vehicles) but their web page didn't suggest where you could find easy parking & then take a shuttle to the church! Admission was $6 to simply enter the grounds for the day, $10 if you wanted a pass good for all four days. The market area had a lot of vendor booths, with some paintings, jewelry, free & for-sale Greek Orthodox religious paraphernalia, & I even saw a large selection of Tupperware. As far as I'm concerned, this was all flea-market type junk & I was pretty disappointed. However, my main purpose for attending was the food, so I pressed onward to what I suppose they normally use as a soccer field, which was set up with about 10 different food tents and many dining tables in the center, and a stage with a band playing Greek music in the corner. The reason for the many food tents was not to handle the crowds (it was busy, but not at all crammed), but some of the food tents were serving different types of Greek food. I paid $9 for Saganaki -- tasted great & it was a good-sized portion, but IMHO way overpriced for the environment & having to pay $6 just to get in. I had to search the other food tents to try to find Spanakopita (Spinach Pie). Despite it being mentioned on the event's web page, I never saw it listed as one of the available items at any of the food tents. Adjacent to the food area was a kid's carnival/mini amusement park area, but I didn't check it out. Likewise, I was ready to leave at 6:45 (only about 45 min after I arrived) so I missed the 7:30PM tour of the church, which would have been cool to see. According to the event schedule, I pretty much experienced everything by being there for 45 minutes Thursday -- food, music, & a couple scheduled church tours each day. No other events other than a raffle Sunday evening. If you're Greek & live in the Vegas area, I fully expect you'll want to attend each year, but otherwise, I think most locals will check it out once, & then decide they get just as much exposure to Greek culture by having dinner at a nice local Greek restaurant. That's probably what I'll do instead of attending the festival again next year.
