| - I have been to BD's a handful of times. Every single time has been an interesting experience. You learn tricks from other people about "how to fill your bowl" and "put noodles on top", etc
My past experiences have been nothing to write home about. They have not been terrible - but not been great. Just - Ok. One time we had overly burnt food you couldn't eat. One time we had under cooked chicken.
But this last visit was - interesting to say the least. When my mother visits - she loves to go to BD's. So on Sunday evening - off we went. There was probably about 8 other tables in the restaurant filled - one was a HUGE party (Probably 10-15 people). Our waiter quickly came over, got our drink order and asked about the extra rice/lettuce/etc with our single serving bowls. Once we had gone up, gotten our food, had it cooked - the large party had left.
We were seated RIGHTBESIDE the door - aka the hostess stand. There were about 3-4 employees standing around - swearing, yelling across to the bar, etc. This was really disruptive to our meal. To make it even better though - The Manager. This man was RUDE. He was yelling at employees about how many tables they had, why they weren't cleaning their tables off, etc. Our waiter - a Gentleman whose name I forget - was rushing around taking care of pretty much all (down to about 6 filled tables now) the tables. He was more disruptive than anyone in the restaurant. The different hostesses were too busy flirting with friends, hanging on friends, etc. There is a time and place for that - at WORK is not it.
The only plus side to the staff - was our waiter. That poor guy (seemed to be the only male waiter) was hustling butt. I heard about one girl only having 1 table to take care of, another girl had to clean off her table - but our waiter (I heard from the manager who was yelling at everyone) had 6 tables at one point. I could point out that he put our rice on a different table - but I didn't care. He got us drink refills in a timely manner, got us new rice, got us our bill quickly, etc. He was amazing in comparison to the rest of the mess happening. He even apologized for the bad service. The bad service did not come from him - and it reflected that in his tip - it came form everyone else in the restaurant.
BD's - get some new management, new hosts, and some reliable wait staff. But look at your schedule for Sunday evening (7p) March 19th - the tall, younger male waiter - did a great job. Keep him. Not the others.
