  • Met a friend for dinner at the Calistro Bistro last night. After reading the reviews posted to date, everyone had great things to say so I thought I'd take a chance. When I pulled up, I couldn't tell is the place was even open. The windows were all closed up and with no window in the door; you can't see in to tell if someone is in there. Turns out they had the sun shades down but from the outside, it makes the place look like it' not open for business. The décor is average. Nothing noteworthy either way so enough said. Their web site talks about their large patio - there is one on the side of the restaurant that didn't appear to be ready for use and the one in front - it's not large and you can almost touch the grills on the cars parked next to your table. I had studied the menu ahead of time and narrowed down my selections. Much to my surprise, the menu I was given was different that that posted on the web; both in selection and price. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for a restaurant changing things now and then but this place has been open for less than 30 days. I find it strange that in that short time period, not only has the menu changed but the prices changed and significantly on certain dishes. We each had a house salad. The portion was as expected for this type of restaurant. If like you variety in your salad, don't order this. It was a small pile of field greens, 4 slivers of carrots and of slivers of a mystery veggie. I also ordered a plate of their flatbread. It was completely void of taste. Very thin bread that was supposedly seasoned with herbs and olive oil. I challenge you to find any olive oil in or on this bread. I had the crab cake appetizer as my entrée and my friend had the fish special of the day, herb-crusted butterfish. Average at best. I prefer lumps of crab meat in my crab cakes and the crab in these had been mashed to death. The butterfish was just OK; Roy's does a much better butterfish. Throw in a Coke and an iced tea and our total was $65. Definitely not worth it in my opinion. Update - I had some stomach issues after dinner; my friends had much biggers issues - Don't eat here!!!!!
