Three and a half stars.
I love ice cream. I'm obsessed with it. I eat a little bit every day despite my lactose intolerance. That's how much I love ice cream. That's dedication to ice cream. So when I heard that there's a new ice cream joint in Calgary, I just had to try it.
I ordered the lemon curd + wild blueberry and hubby ordered the strawberry pistachio. I love lemon curd - I spread it on toast in the morning. However, the lemon curd and blueberry ice cream was SO tart. The sweetness of the blueberry couldn't save it. For the second time in my life, I couldn't finish the ice cream (the first time was when I had almost 10+ scoops of ice cream in one sitting at the PNE in Vancouver as a child, but that's a story for another time). Hubby's strawberry pistachio was okay and very heavy on the pistachio. It was good, but not something I would order or a flavour I would crave. The best part of the experience was the waffle cone...I believe it's a brown butter waffle cone? It's absolutely delicious. I wish I could order that on it's own (maybe I can...?). I also ordered a pint of Chocolate Almond Toffee ice cream to go. It was so yummy and chocolately that it salvaged my first ice cream experience at Made by Marcus. I need to give other flavours a chance and have another waffle cone so I'll definitely give this place another try and report back.
