  • Had a gift certificate for Massage Envy and went on Yelp to check out which one had the best reviews. This location was close and looked good so I gave it a whirl. I made a reservation online and it was easy enough. I was both called and emailed to confirm the reservation for Sunday at 11am. I was asked to show up 15 mins early to film out some paperwork (it was my first massage at ME). I arrived on time at 10:45 and the front door was locked! Huh? The hours on the door clearly stated that they open at 10am on Sunday so I was a bit perplexed. After standing there for a few minutes a nice young man opened the door and ushered me in. Strangely, there was no explanation of the locked door but whatever. I filled out the paperwork and was invited to wait for my therapist in the "tranquility room." I get the concept and I appreciate the effort but this room didn't exactly strike me as tranquil. It had 3 oddly placed (and mismatched) sofas, a table with magazines and a water cooler. There was a TV that thankfully wasn't turned on (TV does not equal tranquility to me!). On future visits, I'd rather wait in the lobby area. My therapist, Ruth, was wonderful. She was attentive and knowledgable. She asked me questions before and during the massage to ensure my comfort and the actual massage was great. I have nothing but good things to say about her. The one and only downside to the massage was the temperature in the room. It was ice cold freezing! To her credit, she did offer to turn on the heating element on the bed but I declined, mainly because at the onset of the massage the room wasn't cold. And I certainly could have (and should have, I suppose) spoken up and asked for the massage table heat to be turned on. This was not Ruth's fault in any way. On the way out I checked out at the front desk and was given a sales pitch for the ME monthly membership. This was slightly annoying (not the guy giving the sales pitch, just the entire pitch itself). I'm feeling relaxed, rejuvenated and at peace. The last thing I want is to be presented with a membership offer. I understand they're a business and trying to get more business is the name of the game but I would much rather have just been given the info and left to make my own decision, peace and serenity still attached. All in all, I was pleased with the facility and the massage itself. The introductory massage at $49 is a great deal that should be taken advantage of.
