| - There is something so intriguing as a stand alone restaurant on the Strip. Over the decades, bits and pieces of stand alones (stores, cafes, smaller casinos) have been plucked from the ground like weeds. I think it is a good thing for Vegas's economy but I also feel that something should be preserved, maybe that's why I have always liked this place. I have a fondness for Peppermill because it is as old as I am, we were both born in 1972.
On my most recent visit, I bought a friend for brunch before I ran him to the airport. As soon as we were seated he mentioned that it reminded him of diners in Jersey where he grew up. I felt I made an excellent choice because nostalgia is always a good thing! We decided to split the enormous pancakes and Joe's San Francisco Special. We also ordered coffees and of course this cocktail darling couldn't resist one of their glorious Bloody Mary's!
The portions are huge so it may be a good idea to split it or know you will have breakfast food leftovers for awhile! The Joe's SF Special was like a huge platter of "stuff"... Eggs, ground beef, sausage, spinach, Potato, cheese all together. It was pretty awesome and comforting. The pancakes are huge! When the serving platter was placed on the table my friend exclaimed "What's this?". Uh those are pancakes my friend. I really want to meet the spatula that flips those pancakes. Do they use two arms to flip it? I'm pondering but need to finish up here. The Bloody Mary! Get one. They are beautiful and yummy, especially needed for a Vegas brunch!
