  • I have a feathered down comforter that is basically my best friend. I know that sounds weird, but I have a strong connection to it. I've had it for a while now, it has survived four years of college, and countless nights that I don't remember. It is an old comforter to say the least, not as white as it used to be. I went to Village East Cleaners because the Yelp reviews were generally positive. There were a few tears in two corners of my comforter. If anyone has experienced feathers flying all over your bed and floor, it's a pain in the ass. I didn't get any names, but I will describe the ladies at the alteration side "ladies". I brought my comforter in and the lady says we don't usually work on dirty things, and I respond "it's not dirty, it's old. I dry clean it twice a month". She says okay $20 and it will be ready in a week. A depressing week later without my comforter, I come to find that one corner was patched correctly and the other wasn't. She missed a good inch (see picture). I called the lady and told her that they messed up and she goes, "well Jesse, your blanket was very dirty". I respond, "okay well it's old, not dirty, and you missed a fairly large area". She says, "well it's federal and state law that we do not work on dirty things". After reassuring her again that it is not dirty but old, I ask if she can fix it. She says yes come in immediately and well fix it right now. I was happy, a little salty that she kept calling my comforter dirty, but happy. I walk in and she reiterates how dirty it is. I even offer to show her my drycleaning receipts, but she condescendingly tells her coworker to go grab gloves. Anyways, she sees the spot she completely messed up at and tells me "okay come pick it up in four days". 4 days? Didn't I just wait an entire week? She says we have customers, so I guess I'm not an important enough customer. Long story continuing to be long, I declined her offer and took my comforter to a different alterations store. I won't promote the store but they took my blanket, told me to sit down, and finished it in five minutes. Maybe this is an isolated incident, but it feels good to be able to tell my story. I won't be going back to this store for anything. I believe customer service is important.
