| - I had an interesting experience here after going to dinner for my birthday the other night. In response to other negative reviews, I had no issues with keeping our table for a long time (Granted it was a weekday) and the crowd at the restaurant was fairly diverse. I did not see any roaches
The food we ordered was great. My tortellini (admittedly super simple and hard to mess up) was perfect, the other people at the table said their food was great as well, although I unfortunately do not know what they got. I do know my tablemate only had 2 or 3 scallops and 3 shrimp with her meal. We also got the escargot, which was good and BURNING hot. The waiter warned us it would take a long time, which we said was fine, and I actually think I saw a busboy carrying our food out at one point and then turning around once he realized we didn't have our appetizers yet. I guess our food sat under a heat lamp after that, although it didn't seem to affect the quality.
The only part of the food my table didn't like was the brownie. I've honestly had better brownies from Pizza Hut. It was dry, tastless and boring. It looked like something made from a box. But to be fair you don't go to a restaurant like this for a brownie. The creme brulee was some of the BEST I HAVE EVER HAD, although not the most authentic flavor, and if it wasn't for the rest of the experience it would be my reason to return.
They didn't sing me happy birthday, although they did for the table on the opposite end of the restaurant. No complaints here though, I hate when they do that to me, although my tablemates thought it was strange since it had been mentioned several times (including when making the reservation AND while we were at the table). My brownie had a candle, which was sufficient for me but different than my other experiences.
We had filled up on appetizers so we asked for some to go containers for our entrees. They took our food into the back (they had brought the container out to the table earlier when we boxed up our soup) and came back with several containers, which I didn't look at until the next day. That's when I discovered that I was somehow missing half my pasta. The bowl they gave me at the restaurant was the size of my head, but the styrofoam container barely had enough pasta to cover the bottom! Did somebody at the restaurant eat my food? Did I get someone else's leftovers? Who knows. Kind of a gross mystery, huh?
I didn't bother contacting the restaurant. I live 45 minutes away so I decided it wouldn't be worth it to drive back for a $15 plate of pasta, and I won't be coming back. I'm teetering between 2 and 3 stars. The food was 5-star worthy, but taking home 1/3 of the food I paid for was pretty disappointing the next day when I wanted leftovers.
EDIT- My tablemates just mentioned a weird situation that happened at the beginning of dinner. We ordered X bottle of wine and they brought out Y bottle. My tablemate argued that it was a different bottle, and eventually the waiter came out and apologized, said it was the wrong bottle, and that they were out of stock of the bottle we ordered. I feel like they should have mentioned that instead of trying to sneakily get us to pay Bottle X prices for the cheaper Bottle Y.
Also, the waiter never told us the specials, which was sad because my tablemate would have loved to order one of them. And I found my water glass empty more often than not.
Overall, it was a good experience (until the next day). I had a great time the day of, and would have given at least 4 stars if it wasn't for my missing food.
