  • Although I still am a member, I am outside my initial membership period and pay month to month. There have been a number of changes since my initial encounter. All your group exercise programs are run by a company named MOSSA. They are of good quality however, I am now under exercise restrictions and am limited in what I am able to do safely. One of the downsides to these programs is that their focus is on challenging yourself to do more but when you are limited it doesn't really help much. The instructors do suggest modifications for those unable or choose lower intensity but it takes the fun out of what I used to be able to do there. The classes are changed quarterly so that your muscles don't get used to the same programming with too much of the same repetition. They still have the supervised circuit which is now available during certain time periods when a trainer is available. Membership has come down slightly but if you want to incorporate anything else such as personal training there are extra fees for that. They have improved the strength and conditioning area with multiple TRXs and a TRX rip trainer. They also have received new stationary bikes for the cycling classes. The racquetball courses are still there but the main gym has been reduced in size to allow for more conventional fitness equipment such as treadmills, arc trainers, and cycles. The pool area remains the same with water classes and two rows available for lap swimming. In addition they have a whirlpool and sauna along with a therapy pool. The therapy pool is limited to those with special needs and available only when Jefferson PT is not utilizing it. The shower area is in dire need of upgrade. The changing areas are fair. Sometimes it takes a while to find an empty locker. They continue to offer child care for an additional fee. They also offer Silver Sneakers which is available for all members. Check with your health insurance because sometimes you can get it for free with Medicare. I have lately been taking their Senior dance fitness which I find easy and enjoyable. Two day advance signups are required when you take one of these classes or a group launch. You can do this by phone if more convenient. The staff is still very friendly and helpful and everyone is willing to answer all your questions. Also to my dismay they changed the rewards system about 2 years ago to a program called Perkville. It is pretty much like a credit card reward program where you get minimal rewards unless you are able to refer someone and get them to join. The parking lot has decreased in size due to the addition of JRMC. Patient parking only takes up about 1/3 of the area once available to members. Also JRMC PT has a few spaces earmarked only for their patients. You must park in a spot! Handicapped parking is still available.
