| - It's just okay. It's expensive and a little pretentious. When it first opened, the produce section was mostly organic. It seems to have fewer organic items now. Generally it feels to me like the store has changed a lot since its first opened. At that time they offered a lot more organics, but now it seems like it's just the trendy little shop that is overpriced. Whole Foods used to sell compost tea in the summertime -- they had a big vat of it, and you could buy a gallon for a couple of dollars. They don't do that anymore, and I miss it. The produce is prohibitively expensive.
Then again, pretty much everything in the store seems overpriced. It's not my grocery store of choice. I go to trader joes these days for the sorts of things that I used to get at whole foods. I would say that trader joes offers a subset of the things that whole foods offers, but it's okay for the most part.
WF has some rare vitamins and supplements, but again, everything is expensive. They sell overpriced clothing, flowers, jewlery, and yoga supplies. Their pastries are great but overpriced.
I think it was Giant Eagle that ran an ad campaign at one point that referred to whole foods as whole paycheck...
