  • We have a 2 year old female West Highland Terrier "Gidget" who LOVES to play with other dogs. I was told about The Barking Dog by a friend so I thought I'd check it out. This facility is very convenient to those who live in McCormick Ranch. But it is kind of tucked away, so ask them for SPECIFIC directions to get there (my GPS couldn't figure it out). I walked in and was greeted by Cindy at the front desk who worked for my Vet for many years. So I was immediately put at ease. Cindy gave us a tour of their facility which is amazing. They have several beautiful indoor and outdoor areas for the dogs to play in. They even have a covered baja type swimming pool for the dogs. The first time that your dog attends their day camp is complimentary (can you imagine?). The employees evaluate your dog before just putting them in the room a bunch of new strange dogs and there's always at least one attendant there monitoring the dogs in each dog area. When I came back at the end of the day to pick up Gidget, she was in very good spirits. They gave her a dog goody bag (treats, Frisbee, scarf, etc.) along with a report card. When I took her home, it was obvious that she thoroughly participated with the other dogs. She was exhausted and super hungry. I will have no hesitation taking Gidget back for day camp!
