Long overdue review. So my best friend and I went to this place last minute because we had a trip to NY coming up and our normal spot was completely booked out. It was fairly close to the city and we saw some of their artist pictures online and thought we'd check it out especially being a black owned and operated business.
Pros- The atmosphere is lovely. I love the decor, it's modern yet stylish and relaxing and the color scheme stands out from other salons. They are easy to find if you are not familiar to the area and very helpful when it comes to the directions of the salon. The man who did my friends eyebrows did a good job and the woman who serviced her nails definitely went all out with the designs and creativity. The staff is friendly and mostly professional.
Cons- Keyword "Mostly". I think at one point I saw one of the employees sitting under one of the hair dryers on her phone and then she went to sleep like she was at her house! Uhh okay? This may sit fine with other people but I'm a stickler for professionalism especially because I'm a cosmetologist myself and I wouldn't be caught dead sleeping/chilling on the salon floor in front of my boss. What I will say is that there wasn't anyone waiting for a service so I guess it was okay just not tactful in my opinion. There was also one point where one of the nail techs (I think the same employee) started eating at her station. Not like a nibble here and there SHE WAS GOING IN! Tearing that food up to the maXX. To me that is a HUGE NO, just no, Lawwddd no! It just doesn't look sanitary.Unfortunately this was the person I was stuck with to do my nails. The nail job was mediocre and apparently neatness wasn't a goal. I ended up re-painting my nails once I got to New York and within a week a few were popping off.
Wouldn't run back. Wouldn't go back. Wouldn't recommend.
