  • STRONG CAUTION: I stumbled upon this place when I was on the hunt for an auto body repair shop, and I was recommended by a random mechanic in the area when I was inquiring about vehicle cosmetic services. I stopped here since they were relatively close by, but wow was I almost lured into a cash trap. I unfortunately got into a small accident mere days after purchasing my brand new 2017 Mitsubishi Lancer, and wound up with a melon sized dent underneath my left tail light. Seeing as I'd never inquired about services of this nature before, I was going on advice from others stating I shouldn't be paying more than a couple hundred max to remove the dent only. I did have some very minor paint damage as well, but it was really minute and almost undetectable to the naked eye, so I was solely only interested in having the dent removed. Upon entering CarStar, they immediately asked me for my car ownership information before taking a look at my vehicle. I'm not sure what normal protocol is pertaining to initiating services such as these, but I found this to be a little forward and a bit presumptuous, especially since I hadn't even thoroughly explained my situation, nor had we even inspected my vehicle to comply or deny service. Once the photocopies were completed, the representative accompanied me outside to my vehicle, and at the drop of a hat informed me the work would cost "approximately $1200" and that the work couldn't be completed without doing the dent removal and paint job since this was mandatory and must be done in conjunction. He also informed me that they must "perform further inspection and inform me of any further damage" since this was also mandatory and required criteria for this service. Once all this was brought to my attention, it was a clear no from me. First off, I knew this supposed approximate estimate would inevitably end up being more, and this mandatory further inspection would also tack on more money that they could swindle out of me as per agreement. Let's be honest, this is a BRAND NEW vehicle, and you can't even just perform the one service I want done without all these extras that (in my opinion) are completely unnecessary? Yeah right, this became a hard pass right from the get go. Low and behold, a friend of mine took me to a local shop and I ended up getting the dent immaculately removed without mandatory paint work for $50. Thanks CarStar, so glad I trusted my gut and didn't get seriously taken advantage of by you. Thank goodness!!
