Duns and nags about balances immediately.
They billed my insurance almost $45,000 for a ninety-minute outpatient surgery. Since they are in-network, their actual payment was settled by my insurance company at $3,500. That demonstrates outrageous over-billing in of itself; Lord help the uninsured or under-insured that obtain services here.
Then they issued the bill for my co-payment, about $500. It arrived about three days after the date on the statement. Seven days after the date on the original statement they issued "a second notice to pay immediately." Fifteen days after the date on the statement, I received three dunning phone calls, all on the same day. Most all businesses operate on a 30-day billing cycle; this hospital apparently could care less.
I only chose this hospital because my particular doctor was performing surgeries there on that day, so that's where I had to go for my procedure.
To be fair, my procedure was completed positively and without incident.
