  • Let me start by saying we've been to Montreal on several occasions since the age of 15. Love the city and know it well. This was a last minute trip and our usual hotel was booked. Location - 3/5 Centrally located in financial district within walking distance or short cab to tourist attractions Bell Center and shopping. Not ideal for nightlife unless you want the cheesy tourist bars or chain establishments. Also very close to the train station which is the main reason we selected this hotel. Rooms - 3/5 Clean but showing signs of wear and age. Traditional decor. Our room was on the 34th floor with a nice view facing the mountain. I'm sure in a year or two it will blocked by a new condo. Service - 4/5 Most staff were very friendly with smiling faces who greeted us with "hellos" but the occasional chamber maid and bell boy looked like someone p$$ed in their cornflakes. Amenities - 2/5 Nice pools but we found it heavily chlorinated and loud. I know it's hard to fault the hotel on the noise of other guests using the pool but hey it's their pool to control. Asking guest to pay for WiFi seems a bit ridiculous. I mean even McDonald's provides it for free. One last thing. Check out it at noon so we decided we'd leave our baggage with the porter and return to pick them up just before catching our train. I was surprised they they charged $3 CDN per bag to mind them. This is the first time any hotel has charged us to hold our luggage. I know it's doesn't seem like much but when you're trying to be classy, elegant and sophisticated it really comes off cheep. Kind of like going to a wedding that has a cash bar. Price - 3/5 It's not the most expensive place to stay in Montreal but when you add up all the extras it's not the cheapest extra. Stayed July 2014, travelled as a couple
