Stayed here over the weekend & we really enjoyed our stay. The freeway or "city" view wasn't as bad as others made it seem. I had a tree outside my window on the 2nd floor so it was fine. I definitely didn't feel like the freeway was barreling through my room. I wouldn't pay extra for a pool view. The rooms are a little dated, but not deal breaker dated. They are in process of remodeling so I hope their renovations will be done by Spring Training.
It's a unique layout since the hotel is built into the buttes. There's not a true valet for hotel guest, I think valet is more for the restaurant. You drive up to the top where the lobby is, check in & they direct you to drive back down the hill to the rooms. Confusing if you show up late at night like we did. Try to park as close to the circular entry for the rooms. There wasn't a bellhop service & if parking was free I wouldn't care about this, but it's not so minus a star. The double beds are narrow. Let's face it double beds (aka full size beds) are just adult size twin beds. Not ideal for 2 adults sharing. Also pool closes at 10pm which kind of sucks.
Now the good is very good. First Peter who was the pool service attendant was EXCELLENT! No matter how crowded the pool was he was on top of things. The pools are beautiful. Lots of stairs and bridges because of the unique design but it's a lovely setting. Absolutely relaxing & you feel like you are in some far off resort. Their drink special Prickly pear margaritas- thumbs up. The bartender (Casey?- sorry if I'm wrong) at the pool bar was super friendly & again provided EXCELLENT service. Unfortunately his shift ended before we closed our tab. The breakfast buffet was very tasty. The homemade granola was really good. Bath & Body Works aromatherapy toiletries were nice.
Would & will totally stay again.
