We are so happy to have finally discovered this wonder of nature and treasure in our own backyard in the McDowell Mountains.
There is something for everyone here, from handicap parking to hiking dogs to serious mountain bikers on nicely challenging upward trails and on to parents with toddlers.
Amazing views overlooking Metro Phoenix to the west from this elevation.
If you are wondering what handicap parking has to do with this assessment, well, this past weekend, we saw a few people with walkers making their way down the level portions of the trail, which was way cool.
Doggie "doo-doo" bags and depositories for same are supplied at trail base and clean restrooms for their owners too.
Please bring enough water for all your large and small guests for the trails ahead, your cellphones for emergencies, and keeps babies protected (and yourselves) from the Arizona sun.
Alas, the nature trails (easy to walk for anyone) feature informational signage along the trail with photos about this special desert terrain and stories about the creatures that inhabit it. Terrific for all ages.
