  • this was my culinary highlight of our little girl's trip to Montreal but let's rewind 2 months; i heard it's insanely hard to get reservations here and after marking it on my calendar, i made sure to contact APC right when they opened their books prior to 2 months. it was relatively easy and the email reservation was simple :) we went for our a bachelorette dinner and honestly... leave your fancy clothes at home! we were so overdressed but with plenty of people celebrating various occasions we thought it'd be ok but sadly no need for dinner jackets or heels here. we spotted at least 2 bachelor parties and 1 birthday party, just in our vicinity so it's quite special. the restaurant is located in a cute portion of avenue duluth and if you're not looking for it, you may miss it. we had a 8pm reservation but didn't get seated until 8:30pm; not bad. the restaurant is long and narrow and almost shaped like a backwards "C" if that makes sense. not circular but with the kitchen and bar located in a pretty central location- it's not a place where you can expect to see the people sitting in the back of the place. we got all shared dishes for the 6 of us and sadly we didn't even finish it! we started off with the foie gras croquette- eat in one bite. savor the oozing morsel of goodness. probably the BEST thing. we then moved onto sharing two onion soups. the stock was hearty and onions were plentiful. i'm glad we shared because i would have not had space to eat more. we also ordered the dumplings and i wish the server explained why dumpling skin colors were different but the 2 sauces to drizzle that accompanied it was good- just wish we knew what it was. we got the special poutine but i honestly thought the poutine at valentin's (the chain) was better. ha! it was with duck fat fries but trying to make a non-fancy thing fancier...hmm, probably would not order again. duck in can- with veggies/ duck/ and a slab of foie... it's preserved, opened table-side, and poured over some bread. it's rich so be ready to be foie gras-ed out. really delicious but if you don't like duck or foie, you shouldn't be here. big eye tuna - why get fish at a place called "feet of a pig"? because it shows just how good the establishment is with being so versatile. at first, i was surprised our server would recommend it as a special but as they were OUT of the pork chop and head of the pig, i guess there's not many other large format meals to recommend. the tuna was almost like a steak and quite tasty. we got the beef tartare because they were out of veal and bison but it almost went untouched as it came out so late. we ended the meal with a maple cream brulee and i felt like i was eating maple flavored butter. not that maple flavored butter is a bad thing but after a heavy meal, we were hoping for some sorbet or fresh berries or something. minus a star because service was lackluster. i'm sure with it being so busy server's attention could be wayward however we hardly saw our server and he just seemed so quick to get us out. can't be helped, it's a busy place!
