Went to the Walk-in healthcare clinic this morning after I've been dealing with a cough for 2 weeks now and thought it was time to get it looked at. As I was entering my information into the Check-in system the Nurse Practitioner (NP) comes skulking up behind me and with irritation clearly in her voice says to me "Are you checking in for your appointment or just a walk-in?" I reply "Just a walk-in". NP: (very rudely) "What is wrong with you?" Mind you there are several people standing around me so I didn't exactly feel comfortable airing my business so I quietly say "I'm having tightness in my chest, having a hard time breathing, and a persistent cough". As she ROLLS her eyes at me she says "Well there are SEVERAL people in front of you and I won't be able to see you until AT LEAST this afternoon." Me: "Ok, well I won't be able to sit here all morning, can you give me a call when it gets closer to being able to see me?" (I ask this because the last time I was in the Clinic that was given as an option for the people on the waitlist). Again with the eye roll and even more attitude the NP scoffs at my request by saying "I don't have time to be calling every person on my waitlist". Very calmly I respond "Ok, no problem, you don't have to be rude about it." And she responds by raising her voice as she starts to storm off and says "YOU don't have to be rude about it."
Not really sure what I was being rude about, but it was very clear she was having a bad day, was feeling pressure with all the patients waiting, probably understaffed, and decided to take her frustration out on me. I kindly asked the pharmacist what her name was after she stormed off and was told her name was Kay and that she is rude to everyone - having clearly seen how she had just treated me.
WHY does Walgreen's employ people like this?!?!??! I immediately got in my car and drove to Phoenix to a CVS Minute Clinic was had a MUCH better experience and wasn't berated for being sick and wanting some help.
Never going back to this Walgreens no matter how close it is to my house.
