  • My dog was misdiagnosed here. I brought my dog here on Saturday November 11th. Our regular vet was closed and my dog had a little bit of discharge coming out of his eye. I told them he was also very lethargic. We saw Dr. Herrera who told me that my dog is older and older dogs are lethargic. I know my dog and he is not lethargic like this. Dr. Herrera seemed like he was doubting anything was wrong with mThey took him into a room and did a test but I was not allowed in the room so I'm not sure what exactly they did. They came out and told me his eye is infected and sent us home with antibiotic eye drops. By Monday my dog was worse. I took him to an eye specialist who said his eye had been scratched and all the bacteria went into his eye. He ended up needing an eye graft surgery for the scratch at the cost of $3000. My dog is now blind. Too much bacteria had gotten in his eye and it was too late. The surgery basically allowed him to not have his eye taken out. He may end up being able to see some light after he recovers from the surgery. I'm not sure what kind of test was done to my dog here when I could not be in the room but it was an epic failure for a veterinarian to not have seen his eye was scratched. Time is of the essence when an eye is scratched. The outcome may have been different if they had diagnosed the scratch. 1211/17 - Update and response. I was NEVER told by the veterinarian at this hospital that my dog had a scratch on his eye. I was told he had an eye infection. The antibiotic drops that were prescribed were the wrong drops. If this hospital was aware my dog had a scratch on his eye they should have followed up the very next day to make sure the antibiotic eye drops were working. I should have been provided more information on what to watch out for and again I should have been told there was a scratch on his eye. A scratch on the eye is serious and has a very small window for healing. Now my dog is BLIND. That's pretty serious. I was told by the eye specialist about the scratch not by anyone at this hospital. This hospital was more concerned with collecting payment than they were with the condition of my dog's eye.
