  • We already have a few preferred pizzerias in town, but decided to come here for Italian fare after reading a number of positive reviews on Yelp. During this visit, the long, spacious décor was modern, impressionable, and appropriate for all occasions. There were a mix of families and young professionals seated in-between the full bar and the open kitchen, as the natural sunlight came through the windows to transcend the dim parts of the interior. It was the first day of spring, so the sunny patio was also filled with diners overlooking Central Ave. For starters, the Polenta arrived perfectly fried to render crispiness on the outside, and creamy and soft at the center. These polenta sticks came with romesco, a creamy nut-red pepper dipping sauce, that added another element to the flavors. By all measures, the profile of the polenta was spot-on and delicious. The Casonova Pizza ($14.50) was put together with prosciutto, dates, ricotta, arugula and pecorino. The dates and thinly sliced prosciutto were delicious, but unevenly distributed across the pie, prompting these flavors to be a hit and miss. We were impressed by the sweet ricotta to accompany the lightly dressed arugula that covered the pie. However, the thin crust was not charred crispy or elastic enough to extend the wow factor. It was certainly more consequential than our next pie, but also a noticeable letdown noted by one of the previous reviewers. Overall, the Casonova was a lighter and sweeter option than those that are filled with heavy savory toppings, which added a nice contrast to our Manifesto Pizza. That said, the Manifesto Pizza ($14.50) came with mushrooms, sausages, red sauce, goat cheese, and fennel. The mushrooms did not distinguish in terms of textures or taste, but the superiority of the sausage and the red sauce were unsurpassed. Unfortunately, we find the thin crust to be inconsistent in-between the pies, and a major weak link in the meal. The texture of the crust was not well executed, which steered our attention to the high quality toppings and ingredients instead of the whole pie. Service was exceptionally attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable. Every server and chef greeted us by making good eye contact with a warm smile. Our water was refilled consistently, and multiple servers came by to check on us throughout the visit. Our chef, Jesse, was so nice that he made a personalized pizza for one of our young dining companions. Their level of enthusiasm to attend to our needs was another major highlight in our visit. Interested diners can expect high quality ingredients, 5-star service, and a fantastic dining environment. 3.5 stars for the overall experience. We are definitely adding this pizzeria to the rotation as we look forward to trying their sweet potato pizza, meatball sandwich, homemade ravioli, and desserts.
