| - So close, but yet...
Here is how it started.
I pull up to the valet area as directed by the attendants and my wife and I get out of our car. I leave the car running and open the trunk. My wife goes to check us in. I wait. And I wait. And I wait. Plenty of staff there, but none of them seem to want to take my bags from my car. I start to unload the trunk of my car onto one of the many carts there (because there is no one else arriving, get the picture?), and finally someone wanders over about 5 minutes after our arrival.
My wife was able to register us with our honors number and things were looking up.
The room is fine.
We go out on the back patio to have a bite before a party onsite that night and see staff setting up for a wedding. How nice, except for the drunken group also sitting outside. How unfortunate for the patrons like us to have to listen to them, not to mention the people attending the wedding. Worst of all was that there was a manager roaming around and he did nothing. A major mistake, considering the cost of a wedding here.
I will follow up tomorrow. So far, they fall a distant fifth behind other very good resorts in the valley, like the Camelback Inn, Boulders, Montelucia, Desert Ridge, and Sanctuary.
So... The resort staff at the party was great. Very professional, fantastic food, and the events during the night were choreographed perfectly.
The room for the night was essentially what we expected.
The adult pool today was great. The server we had kept us in drinks while we were there.
The bell and valet staff for our departure were what I was expecting on our arival. Where were these guys yesterday?
So, the place redeemed itself. Still only scores four stars because of the rough arrival.
Nice place. Truth is in the future we will stay at one of the previously mentioned properties for our weekends away from home. They are just better run properties.
