| - Air conditioner wasn't pumping cold air - the unit would try to kick on (could hear a buzz from motor) but would not. We scheduled Cooling Company for 9PM the next evening, they called and said they could come earlier (3PM), which was great. Ray put on booties over his shoes when entering the house, explained what he would do and how the diagnostic cost would be applied toward the fix, if there was one. It's a 20+ year old unit, has had a few repairs in the past. Ray replaced the capacitor, which was bad, but the unit still wouldn't go. Instead of saying we needed to replace motor, etc. and trying to up-sell us, he grabbed a hose and sprayed the motor to cool it down. Voila! Fired up and started cooling. He said this may be a band-aid and still may go out, but may last the summer, another year, who knows. He explained everything he was doing and described how the unit works in decent layman terms. I appreciate people that find ways to make it work rather than just trying to sell you something new. The one caveat: when asked to ballpark what a new system would cost, he through out a number for the high-end, top of the line, which our house doesn't warrant. A range of low-to-high would have been more appropriate. I would call him again.
