  • Rented a compact car for 7 days, over a holiday weekend. Booked through Travelocity. Arrived at the desk, with about 8 people ahead of us in line. 3 reps working, we stood in line for an hour before we were seen. When we were finally seen, the process was pretty quick (5-10 mins) but the reps will try to up sell you their add-ons in a few shady ways. 1.) By default, they'll say "You're going to return the car with the gas tank empty, and we'll charge you to fill it." They don't ask if you want this option, they add it unless you ask them to change it. You definitely DON'T want this. They charge you for a full tank regardless of how much you leave in the tank. When you ask to remove this option, they will tell you "Just so you know, we're a little cheaper than the gas stations in the area." This is a blatant lie, they just aren't. 2.) They'll ask you which insurance package you want (even though my online reservation declined any instance through them.) When they offer it, they say "Do you want package A, B, or C?" They conveniently don't mention that you can outright decline all their insurance options. So make sure to ask for that explicitly if you're already covered. 3.) When they get to the type of car you're getting, they'll say they're going to give you the worst type of car in the category you have selected. Then ask you if you want to upgrade to a better category. In our case, we did not upgrade and ended up getting a car much better than the "worst" car she said we'd get. She basically tried to scare us into an upgrade. 4.) Our rep didn't try these, but other reviews mention that they might try to sell you an expensive GPS assistant, or unlimited toll pass that you don't need. Something to be mindful of. All that being said, the car we got was pretty much brand new, with about 500 miles on it. No existing damage or problems. Make sure to give them the pre rental damage check sheet before you pull off the lot. I still WILL NOT use this company again. It's worth the extra money to go with a brand name rental agency to have the peace of mind that I'm not going to get scammed/ripped off. Good luck.
